Our clinic, Balance The Clinic, is known for its Colon Hydrotherapy (also known as Colonic Irrigation) treatments. Colonic irrigation is a safe and effective treatment that gently rinses the colon with warm water, helping to flush out waste, gas, and mucus. This allows the large intestine to more easily absorb important nutrients, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and healthier.
It is generally believed that a healthy person's body takes between 18 and 24 hours to digest food, but medical research suggests that here in the UK, men's bodies take 60 hours and women's bodies take 70 hours to digest food.
The large intestine is approximately 5 to 6 feet (152.4 cm to 182.88 cm) long and about 1 inch (2.54 cm) wide. The bowel, which has two sides, absorbs nutrients and water from digested food and expels old cells, tissues, and waste products from the body.
The large intestine is the body's dumping ground or cesspit system. If toxins that enter the intestine are not eliminated, they can lead to autointoxication. This is because the waste products are reabsorbed into the bloodstream and redistributed. The toxins then circulate freely throughout the body, accumulating in certain organs and other areas of the body where they wreak havoc.
After years of this, with irregular eating habits, a diet of ready meals and so-called junk food, and a stressful lifestyle, our bodies become overwhelmed with toxins. Inevitably, this leads to certain illnesses (allergies, arthritis, metabolic and hormonal imbalances, Crohn's disease, constipation, parasites, yeast infections, etc.). Our bodies are not designed to eliminate airborne pollutants and chemicals found in food, industrial products, beauty products, and cleaning products.
The so-called Western lifestyle, including stress, alcohol consumption, tobacco smoking, infrequent exercise, and fast food, is something the body simply cannot cope with.
Constipation, gas, bloating, heartburn, foul-smelling breath, stuffy nose, allergies, skin problems, fatigue, irritability, muscle and joint pain, depression, sweet tooth (craving sugar), forgetfulness, etc.
Constipation, diarrhea, colonic disorders (atonic bowel), impaction or autointoxication (due to weak bowel function), bowel training for paraplegics or quadriplegics, preparation for colon examinations (barium, enema, syringo, colonoscopy), pre- or post-operative, etc.
Colon cleansing treatments remove toxic waste from the large intestine, even gently removing long-standing fecal impaction, which can weaken the colon and cause colonic dysfunction. If fecal impaction remains for a long time, the glands cannot produce essential intestinal flora, resulting in constipation. Colon cleansing inhibits disease-causing organisms, balances the body's acidity and alkalinity, and allows friendly bacteria to thrive. The repeated flow of warm water gradually pumps into and out of the large intestine, triggering peristalsis (muscle contractions) and helping the colon expel unwanted materials. Healthy bacteria then thrive in a healthy environment freed of harmful bacteria. Unlike enemas, which are used to empty the rectum (the last 8-12 inches of the large intestine, approximately 20.32-30.48 cm), colonic cleansing can effectively remove toxins. Similar to reflexology, reflex points for every tissue and organ in the body are located in the large intestine. Colonic cleansing techniques stimulate these reflex points, resulting in increased energy, improved blood flow, clearer skin and eyes, mental clarity, weight loss, relief from bloating and abdominal heaviness, and improved digestive health. Colonic cleansing also improves the immune system and lymphatic flow. Furthermore, colonic cleansing restores normal colonic muscle tone and shape.
When undergoing a colon cleansing treatment, it's recommended to eat light meals and avoid alcohol and carbonated beverages 24 hours prior to the treatment. You'll first enter the treatment room, where you'll be asked to strip naked and change into a disposable, open-back gown. Your therapist will gently insert a specially hygienic speculum into your rectum, after which you'll bend your knees and lie face-up on a bed. A sterile device with multiple filtered, intensely blue-violet light will pump clean water through the water tubes into your large intestine. This fluid then flushes excess hard stool, material, gas, and mucus from the colon into the drainage duct. During this time, your therapist will gently massage your abdomen to aid in emptying. While each treatment experience is unique, you may experience sudden contractions of your large intestine while a significant amount of fluid and waste is expelled from your rectum. This can cause muscle spasms, gas buildup, and an urgent need to run to the toilet. However, there's no need to panic, as the pipes will take care of the waste. While these episodes are common, they don't last long and are easily tolerated. An experienced therapist can help ease the discomfort.
Many people leave their treatment feeling lighter, cleaner, and more satisfied. They can continue their active day as planned.
It's impossible to remove all waste products in a single treatment, as most clients have a large amount of waste stored in their colon. However, many people tend to become more sensitive to their body's condition after the first treatment and quickly sense any internal discomfort. Depending on the individual's condition, a total of three to six treatments is generally recommended, with the second treatment being performed within three to four weeks of the first, and the interval between treatments determined based on the individual's condition. Ultimately, the patient must develop the habit of eliminating waste products on their own, without relying on colonic cleansing. If colonic cleansing treatments become a habit, constantly removing accumulated waste, gas, and toxins using a device will prevent the colon from recovering and may actually lead to abnormalities.

It's common for the body to have allergic reactions to certain foods, which can cause abdominal distension and digestive problems. Your therapist will provide advice on a healthy diet during your initial consultation. You should also aim to drink at least 1.5 liters of mineral water per day. Herbal teas and organic raw juices are also recommended. Probiotic formulas are also recommended to replenish the colon with friendly bacteria.

Additionally, many patients choose to undergo manual lymphatic drainage or reflexology treatments in conjunction with colon cleansing as part of their detoxification plan. In fact, many clients experience a significant difference in their results when they incorporate manual lymphatic drainage or reflexology. Other treatments that may be considered include Vibrotone, Ionisarmi, deep shoe massage, remedial massage, aromatherapy, acupuncture, and Universal Contour Wrap.
This treatment is gentle yet effective at stimulating lymphatic flow. It's a very rhythmic and relaxing massage. It eliminates excess fluid (puffiness) from the body and is effective in treating edema after lymph node damage or surgery. It also helps remove toxins from the tissues and boosts the immune system.
This treatment is effective for treating cellulite, weight loss, premenopausal syndrome, stress, anxiety, tension, migraines, sinusitis, hay fever, pre- and post-surgical conditions (cancer, cosmetic surgery), lymph node removal or lymphatic disorders, and as part of a cosmetic treatment to prevent eye puffiness and skin aging.
Just like blood, when toxins accumulate in the lymph nodes, they are unable to absorb the nutrients the body needs, leading to autointoxication. This can also lead to a weakened immune system. It's no exaggeration to say that the primary causes of lymphatic decline are everyday stress and poor diet. This explains the popularity of manual lymphatic drainage treatments.
I've had the opportunity to receive colon cleansing treatments from several different therapists, and I was somewhat surprised at how different my body's reactions were after each treatment, even though each therapist used the same colon cleansing device. While compatibility with the therapist likely plays a role, I also believe the therapist's intuition, differences in abdominal massage technique, and the therapist's treatment method—including targeting areas other than the abdomen, such as releasing muscle tension in the lower back or massaging reflex points on the feet—make a big difference. Of course, my physical condition at the time may have been different each time. The best results I've had are those where my skin felt silky smooth the next day.
I specialize in lymphatic and reflexology treatments, but I also value my intuition. Living in a big city can be incredibly stressful, and many people suffer from stiff muscles in the neck, shoulders, and lower back. I often combine these treatments with massage to relieve these tensions. Lymphatic treatments, in particular, are very subtle, and the results aren't immediately apparent. However, seeing visible results boosts my self-confidence, and that positive attitude is transmitted to my clients. I've noticed that my client base has doubled or even tripled. In addition to clinic treatments, I also offer homecare advice. However, I try to avoid making homecare too much of a burden and causing stress.
I've never heard of colon cleansing treatments in Japan, but they're well known in the United States, Europe, and Thailand. Like any treatment, colon cleansing has received mixed reviews. Personally, I think it's definitely worth a try.
